Last minute DIY ornaments: Mini Canvas

I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a wonderful holiday party this past weekend and I can't wait to do it all over again on Christmas day. Wooohooo...more planning to do.

Anyway, I like my Christmas tree to be pretty busy with tons of ornaments. We are only 6 days away from Christmas and I can't stop adding ornaments! I went to my local art supply store and bought a couple of mini canvas, trim pack ribbon and small rings for the back. Now I can hang my personalized canvas ornaments on my tree. You can ask the framing department, if you are not sure which ones to buy.

I think they came out super cute and easy to make. This fun project you can enjoy making with your family and treasure the ornaments forever. :-)

Supplies:
Acrylic paint
Mini Canvas
Framing hardware: small rings (for the back of your canvas)
Ribbon: trim pack

The Superhero Christmas Card

Happy Friday everyone!

Every year, on the last days of November I plan out a design scheme for my Christmas cards. This year was a no brainer. I had to go with something much more exciting for a boy since I made my little boy wear that adorable Pinocchio's costume, which included wearing hot shorts in a chilly afternoon.  In my defense, I made him tights to keep those chubby legs warm.  ;-)

So what's better than being a comic book super hero for xmas? I truly love the results.  It is everything I wanted for my lil' muchkin. I hope you enjoy the view.

Weekend Project: Make a Wreath

9 Days,  12 Hours,  40 Minutes...But who's counting?

Last weekend I decided to make a wreath. I  really wanted to incorporate felt balls. I think they are super cute and festive. However,  I did not have the time frame to do what I had in mind so I had to come up with something less complex that requires less time.
My next step was to buy the twig wreath and felt balls. Felt balls don't come with holes so I had to poke holes with a needle and I also used a paper clip to make the hole bigger for the twig to go through. I also bought an extra ornament that I attached to the middle of my wreath. I think it came out pretty cute and fun. Now, I must find the perfect spot. ;-)

Project time: 1 hr
Supplies:
Twig wreath - Michaels
Felt balls - Jo-Anns Fabric store

Dying Swan: Anna Pavlova

For as long as I can remember I have been a huge fan of ballet. I took my first ballet class at age 10 while I was living in my native country of  Peru. What can I tell you? I  fell in love immediately. I ended up taking second place at the local ballet academy. Unfortunately, I was unable to keep taking lessons due to a huge change in my life, my family moved to the United States.
Adjusting to a new life was not easy. It was an exciting time for me, but I never continued with my ballet training. Even though I left my love for ballet behind, I have never stop thinking about it. Every year I visit Lincoln Center to enjoy a couple of shows and when I have some free time, I enjoy watching ballet clips on the internet. Through my searches I discovered Anna Pavlova performing the Dying Swan which blew my mind!! Such a unique soul. I wish the ballerinas of today would make their own mark and not have the same cookie cutter dancing style. I love supporting the arts but I have yet to see one ballerina that can amaze me and make me want to come back for more shows than my regular 2x a year. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I would really appreciate it.
