I can't believe Halloween is almost here. I can't wait!

This is what my family and I worked on this year. Purple Minions were very difficult recreate the hair. It was everywhere in our house. If you do plan to make this, I recommend you have a vacuum in hand. Enjoy!  and Have a very happy and safe Halloween!

DIY Edible Stormtrooper cake topper by Angeli Zankel

I have to do a little research when it comes to planning my children's parties. From finding the best and affordable pastry chefs to finding the right fondant designers. It's really enjoyable to see my designs come to life!

My cake topper designers prices are going up. Hey, I'm not complaining. I think any type of craftsmanship should be well compensated. However this time I wanted something very simple so I wanted give it a try because I could't pay over $100 for something that I might be able to do. 

I'm glad I did it. Making the stormtrooper head was a piece of cake! First, I bought 2 boxes of Rice Krispies Treats (bars) at the supermarket, 2 bags chocolate melts and 1 box of white and black fondant at Party City. I didn't go and buy every piece of fondant designer tools. Actually, I didn't buy any tools at all! My tools were my own roller, metal ruler, a butter knife and laid out my fondant on a cookie sheet. Don't forget to dust it with flour before you work on your fondant. Pretty much pretend you work with fondant as you are using playdoh.  

I'm attaching the process….if you have any questions please feel free to leave it under comments.

1. Look for a model inspiration to make your molding.  2. Combine all the bars and try to shape it as close as possible. I found it easier to cut them in strips to apply the details. 3. Melt the chocolate melts in the microwave and keep stirring and keep heating until you find the smooth consistency. Hold by the bottom of the head and  gently covered it with the chocolate. Let it sit on plastic and put it on the freezer. For about 15 minutes. With a sharp knife shave off the chunks and make it smooth  4. While waiting, roll your fondant as you are working on pizza dough. You let it drape on your stormtrooper head and gently folding it and take out any excess with scissors or butter knife. 5. Work on long and thin rectangles details by using metal ruler, apply it by using a dab of water  6. Use small caps to make the perfect circles. 7.  Use butter knife to make the shapes.  8. Finishing touches. was making it shiny.  Use 1:1 of Vodka and Corn syrup. Don't apply too much.   9. Use a brush to paint it. Let  it air dry. Not bad, right? :-)

Star Wars Birthday Party - Marco turns 3!

My son Marco is turning 3! He is very much into Star Wars, just like his older brother, it was the perfect theme everyone could enjoy (even my husband). We decided to have a little intimate party at home for his birthday.

It all began with a quick illustration of a stormtrooper with a colorful background. Next, I chose the fabric I wanted to use as a tablecloth. I went with yellow stripes!  I also used a lot of gold tones and bright colors.  As you can see I LOVE colors. :-D  Then, one of my favorite and exciting parts of planning this party, making an edible stormtrooper head cake topper! It was soooooo much fun.

Moving on to the tags. I did square and circle stormtrooper tags. I also designed a cake banner "Marco Turns 3" and a large tag "The Force awakens". Mixing yellows and gold was a good decision.  Just when I thought there was no way I could pull all those colors together, it blended so well! I hope you enjoy the photos.

Southampton - The 69th Annual Shinnecock Powwow, 2015

I hope you are having a great Labor Day Weekend!

We couldn't miss one of the best Pow Wow's in the East! This year it was super massive. Tons of beautiful people marched together to the sound of the drums. The day was filled with dancers, traditional dishes, and tons incredible displays of Native American culture. It was beyond breathtaking!

I encourage all to go next year!

Star Wars: Back-to-School Free Printables

Already September. How time flies!! Even though I don't look forward to the cold weather, there are  many things to look forward to like the Holidays. I get happy day dreaming about drinking hot apple cider over looking my beautiful backyard covered in snow.

Back to school is so exciting! I'm extremely eager since I get to choose my boys school supplies. Now that my oldest son will be entering Kindergarten they have a longer school supply list and they require more labeling than pre school. Nowadays, he is into Star Wars so I put these labels together for him. The bigger labels for notebooks and folder and little labels for accessories. This is the part that will excite you, I'm sharing my labels for free!

First you have to personalize them.  You can print them on your printer and use sticker label paper or you can print them at your local printer.  All you have to do is upload the files to your local printer's website. I used Minuteman Printing. It only cost me $4 to print four sheets of labels. I asked them to print my files on glossy label paper stock.

Peruvian Food Fair

Hello,

It was extremely hot today! However we still made it to the Peruvian Food Festival "Sumaq". What really stood out for me was the delicious meat from "Cilindro" Restaurant. The cool thing about it was that they are made in these cylinders, the meat gets nice and crispy. I think Anthony Bourdain would have been very happy with this beautiful crispy pork.  #2. The Sandwiches from the DC Peruvian brothers. #3 Ceviche from Glen Cove…I can't think of the name.  The food was delicious but it was too hot to even decide what you would want to eat. I missed all the desserts! :-/ BUT I captured a couple of photos for you. I hope you enjoy it!

1. My older son, who was tired from the heat. Photos at the bottom is my beautiful sister and chef Miguel from Surfish (He makes awesome ceviche!) and at the right side are the loves of my life.  Don't they look so cute? <3
