Skirt Project #2: Full skirt with black elastic

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today it was a relaxing Sunday for us. We visited a good friend in Long Island City and had an amazing time.

Well, today I am going to share a new skirt I made. Oh yeah...remember I told you guys that the black skirt was the easiest skirt I made?  Well I lied.  lol  Because what I am going to show you is the easiest skirt I have ever made. It was so easy that I wish I would have learned how to sew sooner. Keep in mind I am still a newbie to sewing.

Thread (matching color)
Black elastic 2"
1. Cut 2 rectangles. 34"Wx24"H (I wear a size 0 or 2 so keep in mind when cutting your fabric. If you want a fuller skirt go wider and if you don't like it too full you can always cut off the excess.)

2. Cut the elastic to your liking. Sew the elastic and now it's ready for the next step.

3. Gathering a skirt wasn't hard to do. Match the side seams of your skirt to your elastic, so it's nice and centered. You pin both ends and start to gather.  I didn't use any measurements tools, I used my pointer finger as a guide. I wrapped my finger to gather the fabric and pin it to the elastic and tried to distribute evenly.  Sure I wasn't exactly accurate but lets remember I am sewing for fun.

Finished product!
